Hi,

I have a dnn site on Windows Server 2003 R2(SQL Server 2008) which worked fine and now we are shifting all our sites to Windows Server 2012 R2(SQL Server 2014 Web Edition).

The first one I am trying and am getting this error, I can see the DNN favicon

Not Found

HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.

I think DNN is not reading the DNN folder on the server. Dont know what to do ? I read Daniel Valadas blog before i could start.

Please help, I have many more dnn sites to do

Thank You

would you mind to explain the steps you took - the error message is not very helpful.
Be aware that DNN uses the ASP.Net identity configured in advanced settings of the IIS application pool to access the files and database (if using integrated security).
Please check file system permissions.

Thank you for replying.

I followed this blog http://concepteurweb.ca/blog/en/post/1181.

I backed up DB first on win 2003.Created a new DB in win 2012. I zipped DNN folder on win 2003 and then uploaded it on win 2012. I checked portal alias and user names and all were fine, checked the db permission in win 2012 and is set to Network Service. I unzipped the DNN folder and checked if the files are blocked and they were not. Also i changed the connection string in web config file. I created APP Pool, set permissions to Network Service,.Net 4.0 and Integrated mode  and then a site in IIS,set permissions to Network Service, and then selected the App Pool and DNN folder. Tried to browse and it loads the webpage with that error. Oh I also installed asp from command prompt. I quite sure it is permissions settings in IIS or DNN folder as it browses and i can see the dnn favicon and there is no DB error. just cannot figure out whats wrong.

I got it resolved myself.

I just created a new subdomain and added the new subdomain in PortalAlias table and added it in bindings in IIS and it worked.
