This happens on a new installation of DNN with no other modules installed-- straight out of the box. Is this just the way it works now? In the past user uploads were always stored in Portals/0/Users/xxx/xx/x, or whatever portal number you are using if it is not zero. I'm not using multiple portals so it is no big deal, but if someone had more than one site and all the user data from all of them were getting piled into the same _default folder that would not be good.

I am not sure, whether this is an issue of Active Forums or DNN Core. I remember some issues with user images being displayed, but can't remember, whether they were fixed in 7.4.0, 7.4.1 or 7.4.2, sorry. Upgrading to 7.4.2 shouldn't harm anyways.

Cheers from Germany,

I've had it with the DNN platform. I'm just done with it. I can't even port a site from one version to another without all kinds of problems, none of which I can ever find any solutions to on this ghost town of a forum. Pages load slow as hell, buggy Active Forums module with no viable alternatives, with even more problems than DNN itself and an even LESS responsive support forum (if that is even possible). All I see on this forum is endless problems other people are having with nobody getting any answers. DNN cart modules cost a fortune compared to other CMS platforms, probably due to all the man hours it takes to get something working on this clugey platform. I just wish I could get back all the time and money I've wasted trying to get a site up on this virtually abandoned platform. I'm just cutting my losses and going to Word Press. It can't possibly be any worse. I don't even know why I'm typing this, nobody even reads this forum.

We are trying our best to provide community support for DNN platform, please understand, that not everyone is familiar with Active Forums (which is maintained by a small team of volunteers, who try their best to keep this module, which is not created by them, up to date). You may check, whether YAF.Net for DNN is a more suitable solution for your use case. There are a number of E-Commerce modules as well, free and commercial ones and it depends on your needs, what will be the best solution.
Every platform has pros and cons, I hope for you, WordPress will deliver a more satisfying experience for your needs.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

YAF crashed and burned right from the start, I could not even get past the configuration page (which has some kind of non-standard full-screen image overlay that totally doesn't fit with the normal DNN look and feel). Cart modules with credit card processing and shipping calculations are pretty much limited to Smith Cart (a buggy, expensive money hole that breaks every time a new version of DNN comes out and then they charge you full price for an upgrade after only 3 months!) and Cart Viper (a much better cart, but now equally expensive). There's one other one I can't remember the name of that is not quite as expensive, but it is notorious for being difficult to setup.

One of the biggest problems with DNN is page load speed. The amount of garbage coming over for each page is outrageous, as anyone ever having viewed the source knows. Word Press pages load almost instantly, and the source looks clean as if it were hand coded. The DNN app itself is so slow to load that you literally have to sign up for a service that pings the site at regular intervals just to keep the app from unloading during no activity, since reloading the app again creates an outrageously large delay for the end user. Page load times MATTER! Having to wait around for sluggish pages while using a forum or other data intensive application just ticks off users. Each new version of DNN seems to be slower than the last.

But thanks for being a one-man DNN support team for all these years. I think I've seen your picture on almost every useful response on the support forums for years now, and have been using your suggestions.
