Am I missing something? It looks like the expiration date (expiry) for individual announcements has disappeared for 3.3.2. I see that there is a module level(?) display period (history), which is cool, but I need to set dates individually...like it used to work.

Is there any issue with running the 3.2.2 Announcements module in 3.3.2? I really need that feature.

Expiration date has been removed, as that caused stale records in the db (you had no way of getting the records back) It has been replaced by the history function, which allows you to hide items older than a certain number of days.

There should be no problem running the version that came with 3.2.2 in dnn 3.3.x, however, some other optimizations were also done.... (for instance joins to file table in the sproc)

Thanks for the info on the joins.

As for the stale records, which I totally understand :), how is the "History (Date)" feature handled differently? Items older than a certain number of days still "go away", right? Is the intent that I manipulate that value in order to get "expired" items to show up again for review? Does it prevent expired items from displaying on the live site while I'm editing them? And now I have to set an expiration to an entire group of announcements when before I could set expirations individually.

Ah well. Into the suggestion box I guess :).

Because the module settings are tabmodule settings, you can actually create a reference copy of your announcements module, and use different settings to display different announcements. For instance, you could give your visitors access to historic announcements, by puting a reference copy of the module on a different page, and clear the history days setting

cheers,

Erik
