How can I find out what is causing this error?

It is only happening when users try to reset using the reset link, I can reset the password for them using the user management system

The password is >7 characters and of acceptable complexity

Here is an example of the link .....

/default.aspx?ctl=PasswordReset&resetToken=3230b5b4-316c-4c1f-b780-4d47efb987f5

Which DNN version and wich language are you using?
for non-English sites: did you install latest DNN language pack?

Cheers from Germany,

Version is  07.03.04 (45)

Is english only site

Is it possible to track what has actually caused the password reset to fail?

I understand why the message must be generic, but surely an administrator can drill down and see the call stack?

Wading through the event log is a bit of a mission becaulse I am being targetted by some registration bot that keeps filling up the log with errors.
