if there is only one default website in your IIS you don't need explicit bindings, otherwise you should bind the IIS website (see link on the right hand side when opening the website in IIS management).
If you want to address your website using a different address as during setup, you need to assign the other name as additional alias in DNN, Admin > Site Settings (2nd tab).

This is the only default website on the server.

Are sharepoint services running on that server?

A Google search for that error results in discussions regarding Site Pools (that appear to be part of SharePoint).

I've never had to jump through any hoops configuring a DNN installation on IIS 7.5 before.
