Hi

We're using our membership provider which inherits from the ASP.Net provider DNN provide. Been using it for a long time, and all was well.

The latest version of DNN is causing us a real problem. It seems that ResetAndChangePassword is now never called on the provider. Instead ResetPassword(UserInfo user, string passwordAnswer) is called... within which we call base.ResetPassword - to get the new password but that's always returning a hashed string not a clear text version... I believe it's calling the underlying the aspnetuser.ResetPassword() - so it maybe our hashed string is actually a generated password.

I've hunted through the password reset ascx files and I'm a bit confused as it's telling me in the ASCx that the call without a "password answer" is obsolete, but if I browse the sourcecode the code for usercontroller there is no mention of this.. so I'm wondering if the build is taken from the same files, or whether the build has incorporated a new version of the file which isn't available... either way, I need a workaround and quickly... any suggestions?

I've now gone through this in more detail, and I'm pretty sure it's a bug in 7.4.2

Reseting a user password without a security question/answer no longer works. If you look at the source, trying to reset the password will result in a random password being generated, rather than the password entered by the user (even using the standard membership provider).

What's the process of submitting DNN bug reports?
