Hi everyone,

My team and I are currently working on a website. We created a local website on our machines for our development and installed DNN. We would like to install CKEditor on it as it is much better than the provider by default. One of my colleague already did it a few years ago with previous versions. He then downloaded CKEditor on codeplex (https://dnnckeditor.codeplex.com/) which he thought would be the last version (2.1.3) and we installed it and changed it as the default HTML provider. On Codeplex, it is provided as a package, installed by DNN extensions page.

It turns out that there is a version 4.5.5 on CKEditor website (http://ckeditor.com/download). I then downloaded this version and was looking on how to upgrade CKEditor on our website. The dowloaded version is a folder needing to be copied in the website root (anywhere). I went in the 'Providers' folder of my Website where is CKEditor installed (Root\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\) and copied/replace the 'CKEditor' folder, as it says on Codeplex (here).

I don't really like working this way. I went back on my website, didn't see if it worked as I don't see any changes. Also DNN still says version 2.1.3 in the extension settings. I'm not very confortable with this solution so I started to look for a package for the new version.

Is there no package available for the new version (4.5.5)? I looked on the web, didn't find any.. Why would they not create a package as they did for the older version? It makes it simple to install, added to the extensions, easy to configure and make it by default etc..

Hello Kevin;
CKEditor Provider 2.01.03 is built on top of CKEditor 4.5.2
Unsure of when they're next expected update is and which CKEditor version they'll use.
You could ask them directly on their CodePlex page you linked in your 1st post
