Hi everybody. I have my DNN4 core running on MsSql. I need to create some modules that have to pick data up from an Oracle 8.1 database. I don't have a pale idea of how to create a new OracleDataProvider for just a single/few modules. Is there any docs about it? Thanks!

you are not forced to use the default data provider from web.config, so you can either use a module specific connection string (to be stored in module settings) or another named data provider from your web.config.

There are several ways you can go about doing this

a) Creating your module to use an OLEDB connection and then within your module you can setup a separate connection string to Oracle which would then be able to pull/push data into your oracle database. You can save your connection strings within say the ModuleSettings table and then whenever you need to access data from within your module, tell it to use the oracle connection string.

b)Creating your module as a standard module, modifying your web.config to include an additional connection string and then teaching your module to look for it's data using that connection string. You would also have to extend the SQLHelper class to communicate back and forth with Oracle (if you want to use similar syntax like ExecuteQuery, ExecuteScalar etc).
