I'm in the process of moving to a new hosting provider and have the site up and functioning, but when I try to use the site wizard to change to a new theme, I hit next and nothing happens.  In the event log, I'm seeing this:

I am not sure that I entirely understand your situation but...

If I was going to move an installation from one host to another I would do a complete file system backup & a complete db backup from my original server.

Move that to your new host and then adjust your web.config db connection string.  That should be enough to wake the site back up if IIS is set up properly and has the proper permissions to the directory with your DNN site files.

Then you will have some settings to change such as the site alias, SMTP settings and Super User credentials.  I am sure a few more things will pop up as you push through the migration.  This will be quicker than trying to export your site as a tempate into an existing DNN install...  If that is in fact what your are trying to do.

The site settings let you change the site theme but the site wizard is to create a new portal within a DNN installation...  So I am not totally sure what you are wrestling with.
