Hi,

I am trying to install DotNetNuke 8.0 in Windows 10, but I every time I try I get the same error: SQL login failed:

Error

I am following the steps from this video (Chris Hammond helped a lot) but I fail when I install DNN:

  1.  Unzip DNN8 zipped folder in C:\websites\dnndev.me
  2. Open INETMGR and create a site called dnndev.me (Application pool now is dnndev.me), physical path: c:\websites\dnndev.me, host name: dnndev.me, start web site immediately: true.
  3. Open folder settings C:\websites\dnndev.me > Security tab > Edit > Add > type "iis apppool\dnndev.me" (user doesn't exist). Video minute: 5:02
  4. Open folder settings C:\websites\dnndev.me > Security tab > Edit > Network > Modify: true
  5. Create a new Database "dnndev.me" in SQL Management Studio
  6. Create a "New Login" and map it to the previous database as db_owner
  7. Open browser > Go to dnndev.me > Configure installation and default site.

So, do you have any ideas on this? Will be grateful all. Thank you very much.

Did you create the user account and grant mixed authentication for SQL Server?

I think that your problema is that de step 3 must be after step 6, you must to:

  1. Create a new Database "dnndev.me" in SQL Management Studio
  2. Create a "New Login" and map it to the previous database as db_owner

after step 3

3. Open folder settings C:\websites\dnndev.me > Security tab > Edit > Add > type "iis apppool\dnndev.me"

Are you using a local SQL server, or something elsewhere on the network?

I guess this is where I am wrong, you mean for Windows User? SQL User?

I will try that.

You are everywhere! I am using local SQL Server, I was using Azure before but I was not able to update from DNN 7.4 to 8 so I changed to "local" everything.

Thank you all for your answers.
