Is it possible to load a DNN website into Visual Studio to run it in debug mode?  If so, could some explain to me how to do it or direct me to some detailed instructions?  I'm new to DNN and I seem to be having a lot of issues getting things to run properly.  Also, is there anyplace online to go to get training on all things DNN?  Everything seems to be spread out a bit here and a bit there.

Thanks,

David,

yes it is. Best way to do is creating a fork on GitHub, and then go on. There are some instructions here in the wiki and/or community Blogs and/or video tutorials, and also on the DNN-Connect web site (http://dnn-connect.org/).

When you fix an issue, you can make a pull-request then and by doing so, contribute to the community project.

Happy DNNing!
Michael

Yes - but you probably don't want to. As I see it there are four levels:

I want to get a site working:
- using standard modules. This use case is probably solved quicker and better without recourse to VS

- using purchased modules. VS probably wont help. The module vendor is unlikely to have provided source code or debug files.

- using in house written modules. If you have access to the module's source code you can debug into the module. The module author is probably best placed to do that

- and I think there is a bug in DNN. Download the source code from GitHub and knock yourself out.

If you are in the first two cases then you are probably better off explaining your actual problem here. If the people here cannot help you then think about breaking out VS.

Best wishes,

There - the wonder of open source! Two diametrically opposing answers to the same question at the same time.

High-five Michael! :-)

Really a wonder - but not only two diametrically opposing answers. I think none of us could say that the other is wrong :-)

^_^/ Richard!

Happy DNNing!
