Quick Note for all intranet users that do not have privledges to Group Policy and want to use auto logon. 
Even though you may have your portal listed in the IE settings Intranet Zone your auto logon will fail unless your Security Settings for this zone are set to one of the 2 automatic logon settings which can be found at the very bottom of the custom security settings window.

On my case the domain is:
dc=local,dc=bitbrain,dc=com,dc=ar

I'ts using AD "full" notation not the DNS name.

On one of my tests I've used this to authenticate with a Linux DC and worked fine to me.


 

Yeah I'm sure the domain is ok.

Mine looks like this: dc=eaglecu,dc=org

Odd thing is even though I get that error our domain users get autologged in anyway. Now I'm dealing with the display name issue but the fix listed here to hack the stored procedure isn't working.

Ok, so I have DotNetNuke 4.3.4 running on a windows2003 server r2, IIS installed, SQL 2005 express installed.

The 2003 server is joined to a domain - cas.org.au  Machine Name is CASPORTAL.

The only other server in the domain is a SBS 2003 server.

I cannot get AD authentication to work.  Do I need to make the DotNetNuke server a DC?  what gives?

all I get is:

An error has occurred.
Error: Windows Authentication is currently unavailable.

 

Had a look in the log, this is what is there:

From this am I to assume that DotNetNuke is looking locally for its AD information? Shouldn't it be looking to the other server in the domain - the SBS server?

Thoughts?

Thanks so much for this, it worked perfectly! Any ideas how I can integrate DNN groups with AD OU's?

I am having the same problem too... the AD problems just seem to never end.

Scratching around in the database, here's what's happening for ME:
I login as DOMAIN\USER, works great - my name, email, everything gets pulled over.
I try logging in as USER, it creates another account as USER, but doesn't pull everything over... except for e-mail, oddly enough.  So my first and last name is NULL, which sparks the below error.  Filling NULL first/last name fields, and any other required fields, should get it working.

But as for why it creates two accounts, pulls over the e-mail address but nothing else... sheesh, I have no idea at this time.

Which lead me to the thought, that he can't only access this user record. Because if I search for any other words I don't get any errors. Even when I click on the First letter where the user should be listed I get this error and none on the others.

I tested this with a clean Source installation of DNN, version 4.3.2.
The user I use for reading the AD is a simple normal user, but I thought this should not be the problem?!
I tried it about 3 or 4 times with clean installations and nothing changed.

So, now has anybody suggestions on workarounds?
