your Server seem to throttle the number of Connections more than necessary - typical is 10 but your Server delivers one file after the other
besides, your Homepage is way too large and consists of too many elements. try using sprites and DNN CRM (Client Resource Management) to reduce number of requests.
YSlow might be a good tool in Firefox to provide you with valuable suggestions.

Do some measurements! If you don't measure you have no idea where your problem lies.

Start with Fiddler www.telerik.com/fiddler. How long for the main page html to arrive? How long for the page assets (images/script/css)? How big are these parts?

Your image banners are ridiculously unoptimized and from what I saw you have them set to display on most every page. One of them is 7156 pixels wide, others were 3125 wide. Optimize your image banners by making new versions that are 1850 wide maximum or something like that, with a fair amount of compression (80% or so) when saving as a jpg. At least then you won't choke the page from square one.
