Jim,
thanks for your message.

An upgrade from DNN 7.3.x to 7.4.2 should not produce any headache.
Upgrade to DNN 8 needs to be planned more carefully, due to a number of breaking changes.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Sebastian,

Well, I updated the development site to 7.4.2 and it seems to have gone without a hitch :-)

Well, one little thing, but I think I know why. The site hosting runs in medium trust and from what I understand from a previous post, Security Analyzer requires full trust. The error showed up during the upgrade: "Installing Package File SecurityAnalyzer_01.00.01_Install: Error!" -- at least, I guess that's why it threw the error.

Thanks again, and now I'll have to gather up my courage and upgrade my clients primary site :-)

Jim

Jim,
Trust Levels were meant by Microsoft as security enhancements, but this has been cancelled, Microsoft now suggest running always in Full Trust.
DNN 8 will require full trust mode.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
