I'm currently in the midst of developing a site in DNN. I'm a novice when in comes to designing websites so I'm learning as I go. The only difficulty I've encountered is the performance of my site. I've tried several troubleshooting approaches that were rendered through some quick Googling. Nothing has fixed the issue for me this far. One item I came across had explained that any files uploaded to the root directory of the particular portal are automatically downloaded as the site opens. Files should instead be saved to sub-folders. My site opens very slowly but the performance is fine once it loads so this make some sense to me. I've uploaded most of my site images to the root folder which may be my issue. If what I read/interpreted is true, my next step should be creating sub-folders to store and organize my site images. This can be a fair amount of work as I'm nearly complete with my site. I don't mind investing the time but figured I would post my theory here before I proceeded. Would moving my site images to a sub-folder help with the performance?

Thanks so much for your reply. The performance issue only occurs when initially accessing the site. The pages are slow too as it loads. Once loaded, the performance is very quick until you go to access the site again at a later time. I recently upgraded to DNN 8.0.4 from 7.4.2 in hopes that it would rectify the performance issue but it had no impact. I also made a point to upgrade my skin to the latest version that fully supported DNN 8. I have few modules that I use outside of those included with DNN. The database is currently 50 MB and the transaction logs 7 MB which seems fairly small?
