Have used DNN in the past but stopped around 6.x in 2010. Getting  back to it and downloaded the latest package 8.0.4.226 from DNNsoftware download site. Installed the Web Matrix via the links on DNNsoftware site. Got an error and never got to the wizard, so overwrote the files from a downloaded zip file directly from DNNSoftware site. Made it to the install wizard and selected Default, then the next screen started and immediately displayed the following. There are no videos for v8.x with Web Matrix so I haven't a clue as to why I can't get this to work. Any help appreciated. I can't seem to include all the error in this post so here's the starting error.

Instant guess - your version of SQL server does not meet the pre-req's. Did you check the pre-req's?

this is an issue with the database compatibility level.
Note: DNN 8 requires SQL Server 2008 or later. If you are using an appropriate version, use SQL Server Management Studio to re-create a blank database, right click database node and select properties. AFAIR on 3rd tab there is a setting for compatibility level, you should set to max value available. Save and retry installation from scratch.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Web Matrix process downloaded and installed SQL Server 2008 R2, etc. I'm not a developer so I was hoping this would be a clean and easy process to use the Web Matrix and get a DNN site to evaluate. I used to watch videos for exactly how to do all of this and there aren't any current videos. I guess I'll wait until there's more video support for v8.x.

the easiest option to install DNN would be installing SQL Server Express (latest version with Tools !) and use free nvQuickSite (www.nvquicksite.com) installer to install DNN.
