JoAnn,
I already created such a solution using reports module. You may have a look here, where it is using data from a different query, but with the same concept: https://www.trans-ocean.org/schiffe. If you are interested, please send me a PM and I'll provide you with the files.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold

Thank you for your offer, Sebastian.

I used this example because the data already exists and it is simple with a parameter.  I am interested in how it would be coded as an MVC module.  I actually have reports for these kinds of lists already written.  I need to write a very complex module over the next 6 months and this will probably be the route I take.  If my company was to switch to DNN from Ektron (people at work who have seen what I have done on my club site so far and how simple it is to get custom work into place LOVE what they are seeing), I suspect we would be doing all of our custom work using MVC modules.  All of our work now is in WebForms.

Thank you again!

JoAnn

JoAnn,
did you have a look at the submissions for the DNN 8 module contest: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community/...
they are available with source code.

Cheers from Germany,

Yes, and I am having trouble sorting things out.  I have never heard of an cshtml file before.  I have new skills to acquire and I need something very, very basic to start with.  I can compare a one page simple project with an out of the box one to learn how they are put together.  This is completely foreign territory for me except that I know how to use VS and SQL.  Working exclusively in C#.NET using WebForms at work, the only opportunity I have to learn new things is like this.  I am doing this as a volunteer who has never set up anything more than a basic DNN site, and then only 4-5 of those.  I work full time and with family obligations, I can only squeeze in an hour or two here and there which is not helpful.  I was just now pulled away from my work to hold a screwdriver for my husband.  Now he is talking to me about a puddle in the driveway.  Too many distractions.

I don't do well with webinars or books but some videos have been very helpful.  It just depends on whether I need to ask a question.  I learn best in the classroom and hands on using things I understand.   I am accustomed to being the class idiot but since I and not afraid to make a mistake and don't give up, I eventually get it, then I take off.   You have been my professor and I am grateful for all you do.

JoAnn

I would start with the module from Chris Hammond - it should be simple and MVC.
.cshtml is the extension of a Razor file.
