I have installed DNN 07.00.06 (121) DotNetNuke Community Edition on GoDaddy for a college club but cannot get SMTP to configure. I fully understand the above version and vendor are less than optimal but it comes back to a college club with no funds.
Localhost was the SMTP host in the default configuration but that didn’t seem to work based on no email for Private registration and complaints in the Event Logs. I entered valid SMTP information and verified them outside DNN but when using the Test SMTP button I received:
There has been an error trying to send the test email. The error is:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
There was also a warning message at the top of the settings screen afterwards that said:
You are trying to use a custom SMTP port with your install instance running under medium trust, you need to contact your host provider to make sure this setting can work correctly on the server.
I talked with a very helpful GoDaddy support person who, of course, had never heard of DNN but tried, on his own, to learn about email in DNN.
I would appreciate any suggestions about how to resolve this issue.
Thanks a lot!
