I've had this issue before so I thought I would ask.

I'm having a problem with a glitch/bug in the Verified Registration mechanism in DNN. The fix is easy, you simply have to tell your users they are supposed to log out of the site they just registered to BEFORE clicking on the verification URL they received by email.

Unfortunately the text in the yellow box does not mention this detail and many users are puzzled by the Server Error they receive whenever they try to confirm their registration while they are still logged in.

I found the string appearing in Italian "Stai utilizzando un account non verificato. Si prega di verificare l'account cliccando sul link contenuto nella e-mail di verifica che è stata spedita."

I tried looking for it in the Languages -> Host -> Italian -> Desktop modules -> Authentication services - > DNN -> Local resources but could not find it... any idea where the text that appears in the little yellow box that pops us just after registration resides?

Is there some sort of logic/module/plugin/ that can allow administrators to look at a page and know exactly in which resource file a particular string resides?

I'll try to register to one of my english websites so I can give you the English equivalent of the string...

Thanks for any help on the subject

Ok the English equivalent of the string I'm looking for is:

You are using an unverified account. Please verify your account by clicking on the link contained in the verification email we've already sent to you.

Any idea as to where it resides in the Languages tree since I would like to change this one too??

By the way, if you are using Verified registration I suggest you do so too.

it should either be in /desktopmodules/authentication/dnn or gobal > SharedResources or global > GlobalResources or /admin/security.

Hello,

I'm going to drop this here although I'm not sure it is the solution you are looking for.
You can easily locate resource files by using the "Find in Files" option in notepad ++. This though requires you have access to the site folders with notepad++. Simple steps:
-Run notepad++
-Press ctrl+f
-Select the 3rd tab "Find in files"
-Fill in the fields. "Find what" is the resource you are looking for, "Filters" put the resource file extension *.resx, "Directory" set the root folder. The rest fields leave as they are
-Press "Find all"

In the results you will see where exactly you can locate the resource you are looking for.
For the record, I never managed to get the hold of resources. There is a logic behind the structure and for the most part it is an applicable logic, but there are cases I just can't follow the logic. For example, try to localize all registration and login resources (password reset and everything), there is no way to get them all on one go, there is bound to be a resource from hell which will torture you.

Well Skoubri thanks a lot for the suggestion. It makes perfect sense and I'm pretty sure it's going to work.

Luckily I do have access to installation files and Notepad++ is installed on the server I'm using :)

I'll try this out asap and let you know. It is true that for most resources the use of common sense is sufficient to desume their possible location but the fact that the Global resources page is so full of stuff and that some resources have been very carefully "hidden" so to speak, you end up wasting time fishing around cluelessly for strings while users keep telling you about the mistake/glitch/problem which can be unnerving.

I sincerely hope this will finally liberate me from having to browse through pages of strings looking for matches, which is something a machine does better than humans and much much better than me :)
