I am also seeing the same thing on my custom skin/theme. I use searchboost as my search engine and don't use dnn search. The persona bar will not show up until I add a dnn search results module to the page. I have way too many pages on my website using the custom skin/theme & searchboost to add a dnn search result module to each and every page. I assume anyone not using the dnn search module on a page (default search box in every header) will encounter the same problem of no persona bar until the requirement of dnn search module in a skin/theme/page is removed from dnn9.

Patrick, I did have some success in just leaving the search token in the skin file but commenting it out. Apparently, it just needs to be in the file.
