Folks,

I am installing DNN platform 9.0.0 using the web platform installer on Windows Server 2016 Datacenter.  The options link on the first page of the installation wizard allows to me specify the database server under 'remote database server name', it doesn't allow me to specify the database default admin user. Install wizard expects it to be 'sa'.  How can I use a different user id with admin rights?

- Raj.

this looks like the installer for SQL Server, not the DNN installwizard page.
Do you already have SQL Server installed?

Yes, I do have SQL Server 2016 installed on the windows server that I am attempting to install DNN v9.

Although, the install wizard doesn't detect the 2016 version I have and attempts to install SQL Server 2008 R2, during which it asks for password for sa account not allowing me to specify a different account.

you might consider to install manually or using nvQuickSite installer (www.nvquicksite.com)

Yes, I installed manually (while I waited for the posts to get approved into this forum) and it went thru fine. Still curious to know what might have caused the problem, as we'll be doing additional installs in our other servers.

On a different note, I tried with correct passwd for sa account and couldn't get past the screen. It never was able to connect to the server with sa id, though I was able to connect to the server as sa.
