Hello,

Our current version is DNN 7.0.4 and we want to upgrade it to higher version. Whenever we upgrade it, it showing illegal path error. So we created a new instance with DNN 9. How can we migrate old modules and files to new instance?

Sumy,

when the module supports this, you can export it from the old site and import it on the new one. You have to do this module by module.

Happy DNNing!

usually you should be able to upgrade "in place", which should provide you with the b est results.
please make sure you unblock the downloaded upgrade package (in file properties), prior to unzipping the files contained to overwrite existing files on your site.
make sure, your IIS websites meet the version requirements (DNN 8 and 9 require at least .Net version 4.5.1) and create/edit/delete file system permissions are granted to the ASP.NET user, which is configured in advanced settings of the IIS App Pool being used.

I removed all the zip files existing inside install folders (Modules,Language..etc) before unzip the upgradation package.
Then I followed upgradation package. So it installed completely  But site showing error  like below .Pages are  not redirecting
