As near as I can tell all it does is replace two dll's in the root bin folder and update the web.config file in the portal root (so it really doesn't install like a module / extension). I have applied the patch on 3 DNN installations (all 7.4.2) and the sites are working as expected. I do have an issue with a fourth installation that is directly related to the replaced files, and I have sent a tech support question directly to DNN. Hopefully they will respond in a timely fashion.

Thanks for your responses. Maybe just installing it as an extension is sufficient, without actually placing the module on a page.

I hope this is the case. Would like to get a conformation on that.

Yes, just installing the extension is all you need to do.

Thanks for the info.
Related questions: There was an earlier "DNNSecurityHotFix1" which I installed in my DNN 8.0.4 version.
I am now testing a 9.1 version which I installed fresh (and I've installed the current "DNNSecurity HotFix 2017.1"
Does this 9.1 version need the earlier "DNNSecurityHotFix1" as well.

Another question: How do I ensure I'll receive the notifications for these? I heard about it from another DNN user, but I didnt receive the notification myself this time?
