Greetings Nukers,

I am now on a mission to improve the page speed of all the DNN sites that I work with.

I notice that this site scores a 70/100 for desktop, with some very simple optimizations that could be done to it.

It seems DNN as a platform loads so much script, CSS, files and other things that all result in degraded performance.

Is there an up-to-date list of things to check to improve Page Speed.

What is your Google Page rank score?

Great question! I have seen stuff in the 8 user manual, but that is it.

Just found a performance setting in DNN9 here:
Persona Bar > Settings > Servers > Performance > Client Resource Management

The tooltip on this says "Composite files are combinations of resources (JavaScript and CSS) created to reduce the number of file requests by the browser. This will significantly increase the page loading speed."

I turned it on, and immediately gained a few extra GooglePank rank numbers. Easy! My site is now up to 85/100

combined files may increase ranking, however, please make sure, files do not use include statements, which will not be resolved by DNN

One of the biggest simple fixes we have found to increase speed is image compression. Images optimized for web out of a program like Photoshop still have a lot of metadata associated that ads to the file size. we use jpgmini, tinypng, and compressor.io to reduce the file size of images further without a reduction in quality.
