I am not sure I'd have done the same thing as DNN Corp but I have some empathy for the position they are in. And the thread IMHO illuminates a deeper issue: DNN Corp wishes to prevent "end users" from buying crappy stuff, finding out it's crappy and then thinking "this platform sucks". But the people that have jumped into the thread in defence of DNNGo are resellers. I guess Nina is perfectly happy to assume any risk from using DNNGo stuff on her clients' sites because she's responsible for the whole thing anyway. So she doesn't need protection by DNN Corp.
This wouldn't have happened were it stil Snowcovered because Brice really couldn't give a rats ass what happened to your site after you bought a module. But now that it is an official App Store I can see there is a different dynamic.
Can't see a simple way out of this mess.
Boys Boys Boys - got your tongues wagging again.. you can't help yourselves can you? No need for a personal attack Peter, saying I am happy to take a risk using their products. What you've done here is shown what a tight, small elitist group we have within the "DNN boys club".

I got the special treatment AGAIN - A personal attack on me. That's what it is Peter, you couldn't help yourself and had to go there. Why?
And this comment.....
But the people that have jumped into the thread in defence of DNNGo are resellers.
That is fundamentally flawed.. not all are resellers.. and let me ask you Peter.. What difference does this make if someone is a reseller or not? Please explain the relevance as I am not following. I am pretty sure most of the developers selling on the store hope to sell to resellers. Their market to the end user is so small because DNN is primarily a 'developers tool'. It's geared that way.
Let's just get things in perpsective... One of the most popular theme developers had a problem, and it's raised quite a perception imbalance because there are other skins on the store that had issues as well and are back online. (You'll find this occurred with the 'good developers' who are in the DNN boys club) .. sssshhh.. don't tell anyone will you!!
DNNGO are not the only ones who convert templates from Envato and other theme designers using bootstrap methods. Porto was and several others I've seen and recognise were and are WordPress themes. Several developers / theme builders do this. But now after 5 years or more online, being visually popular, DNNGo and those sales they made for DNNCorp and Snow, something didn't work so well, and to protect the name of DNN, just ditch the developer because their code to fix is not to the 'standard' of DNN today.
Here is what I can tell you as a fact as I have had personal conversation with developers who reached out to me.
DNNCorp didn't like their fix - they said it was shabby and not done correctly in their opinion.
But let's not help them sort it out because Lord knows we don't want any more competition. DNNGo are popular with the users of DNN who build smaller sites and want to compete in the world of WordPress by offering good solutions that affordable.
If it was someone else I DID NOT USE, I'd be talking to them and I read their predicament, I'd be reaching out and asking 'ARE YOU OK'. I really care about people in general. sympathy and empathy. something that is fundamentally lacking here. Try practising it sometimes.. I call it - Put your shoe on the other foot.
Here's how I would have solved the problem..
- - Realised the importance of such a popular developer to be successful based on the enormous sales achieved by them over the last few years.
- - Reached out and assigned a dedicated developer support person to help them get their products in line with the standards that met DNN
- - Re Introduced them to the store with a nice story on how DNN helps developers and community and why more poeple should use DNN because it's a great product in spite of the challenges we have.
- - Use this as an example on why and how DNNCorp has a good balance of community and developer relationship, across the board, even if you work in the smaller budget market, a good theme developer is BADLY NEEDED by DNN because if nothing it's getting slaughtered by all the other options available.
All you've done here Peter is shown the world how much you don't like me along with so many other of the the DNN team because I don't subscribe to your 'boys club' behaviour. If you had such a problem with me, why not reach out, why bring this conversation online?
Why the personal mention of my name? Was your day not busy enough? Do I frustrate you because I don't use your modules?
You need some cheering up... Come on over to Australia, spend some time in the real world with us Aussies and pick some strawberries on my organic strawberry farm.. http://www.bimimbi.com.au and we can talk about why I didn't buy your modules and used Evotiva's document manager instead. :-)
Here's a final suggestion, instead of spending your time on how much you guys in 'DNN Boys Club' dislike me, why not spend that time looking to the future and getting DNNGo back online, and in a better fashion so ALL those people, not just me, who have purchased their modules and themes.
If you think I'm the only one who thinks like this - you are living in a bubble.
