I used Godaddy's app installer to load DNN v7.0.6 and am now endeavoring to update the site to DD v8.0.4.  I've backed up both the site and the database and plan to follow the suggested update path (7.0.6 to 7.4.2 and then 7.4.2 to 8.0.4). 2 questions: 1) any common pitfalls to avoid? 2) where can I find the upgrade pack for 8.0.4 without having to download the entire DNN archive on Codeplex?  Thanks in advance.

You'll find the 8.0.4 release at https://github.com/dnnsoftware/Dnn.Pl..., along with pretty much all of the others.

As for upgrading, unzip the Upgrade package and copy all of the files to your DNN installation. If you have ftp access that's probably the easiest way to go. Then, browse to your site and the upgrade should start.

I don't recall any real pitfalls. But, make sure that your modules are all updated.


But if you hit something, head back here with the problem.

Returning and reporting...

I get the following error message after attempting the update:

Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Web.UI' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
