I want to be able to make it so a registered user can only be logged into the DNN site from one device at any one time. I would think this should be relatively easy to achieve by sessions, however i have been unable to find anything available to achieve this. the main purpose is to stop a paid user from sharing their login details with multiple people and thereby diluting the potential revenue to the site.

Open to any and all ideas including commercial modules.

DNN core code never uses sessions. Installed modules can create sessions, but it's generally considered a bad idea to use session.

Thanks Richard

What about using the users online table? I understand that it's not in real time and is run via the scheduler but that would be sufficient for my needs. anyone have a solution for that?
