I am trying to configure multiple sites on the same instance of DNN 9.2, on my local host.  Windows 10, IIS 10.0.1.17.....  I am able to deploy the installation (DNN_Platform_9.2.0.366-777_Install)  and get it up and running on localhost.  It seems fully functional where I can add pages, modules, etc...  When I add a site, either Domain or Directory approach, the site is never populated and doesn't work.  Looking at video tutorials it seems like just out of the box functionality so I must be missing a step.  Domain created site returns "This site can’t be reached" and Directory based returns a 404.  I've checked out the Portals folder and child folders are created there but they're empty for the most part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you created a "child portal" it would likely work as expected being http://localhost/mychildportal - If you create another "parent" portal - you need to add the domain/site to your local IIS to point to the directory, ideally by adding a binding to the current site in IIS.  This is all setup and done in IIS, not dnn.

adding to the reply of Andrew:
if you are adding another parent site (e.g. localhost2), you need not only adding the IIS binding to the website, but need also create the local DNS entry in your /system32/drivers/etc/host file as additional alias for 127.0.0.1.

And adding to Sebastian comment, if you want to skip the hosts file step, a very nice gentlemen registered localtest.me so that any subdomain points to 127.0.0.1 (your local loopback ip) so anything.localtest.me always points to you machine and you save having to edit the hosts file. All the other steps still need to be done thought.

The dnndev.me domain is also registered and points to the localhost address. There was another one, too, but I can't remember it.

Any choice works just fine. The dnndev.me is a nice tribute to dnn.  And, I believe that Chris Hammond's templates use it by default.
