Mark,

could you please have a look at your site settings (Administrator :: Site Settings :: Advanced Settings :: SSL settings in DNN < 9, in DNN 9 Settings :: Security :: More :: SSL Settings) and check the values found there. In my opinion there should both "SSL enabled" and "SSL enforce" be off, and all of the text fields be empty.

both these checkboxes:

SSL Enabled and SSL Enforced      

are checked. I will uncheck SSL Enforced and test again, but I'm sure i've tried unchecking before....
