Hi Joseph, thanks for the reply

The website is indeed running, by making a copy you mean exporting it? The account I have access to doesn't let me export the site, I'd have ask the owner of the superuser account to do it for me.

I forgot to mention that I have already set up a clean installation of DNN

Pablo,
you don't need to export the site to create a copy.
Simply setup a local website in IIS (to use a custom name like "DNN" you may need to add the alias to %system32%\drivers\etc\hosts file (You may edit with any text editor) and copy over all files from the website directory to the local IIS website folder. You also need to backup the SQL Database on the server and restore the backup on your local instance of SQL Server (same version or later, any edition except "Compact". Create a SQL Server account and grant permission for the database. Adopt the database connection string in your /web.config file to meet the database name and login credentials. in the database, table PortalAlias, make sure the default alias matches the name, you defined in your hosts file, e.g. "DNN".
