The only thing that I changed in the web.config is the connection string.

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(local);Database=database;uid=dnnuser;pwd=password;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

I've just had a problem with the same module.. the docs all vanished unless I was logged in. Setting view permissions for unauthenticated users for the folder where the items where stored seems to fix it.

Rob, what type of documents are you publishing (.pdf, .xls ?)

Can you confirm that it works with any document ? From any browser ?

Our experience is that an extensive checking is necessary, since the problems we have with downloading are unconsistent, but we DO have issues on all DNN versions (3.3.5 and 4.3.5), on upgraded and/or fresh dnn instances, on any document types (.txt, .xls, .pdf), on different servers, and with different symptoms (truncated documents, 0k downloads, etc)

We use http compression, but turning it off seems not change much.

I only have the module running on one site that had been upgraded from DNN3.1.1 to 4.3.4. It holds 4 PDF files and is duplicated on one other page. The whole thing runs on Webhost4life. Firefox works the same as IE.

I do know 100% for sure that they were fully visible in the DNN3.1.1 site, but I'm not fully certain at which point the documents vanished for unauthenticated visitors in the 4.3.4 upgrade because I normally only visited the site when I was logged in and the docs pages were on sub-pages. For all I know they were gone all along since the upgrade a while back.

I was checking the site a few days ago without being logged in and noticed the docs were not visible even though the module itself was present. I checked with the client to see if they had removed them and then I logged in and and saw that were reappeared. It was obvious that it must be some sort of permissions issue, but resetting permissions for the page and the module did not work. Then I was busy elsewhere until last night I put myself to sleep browsing the aggregated forum posts and noticed a post by dstruve on the same issue. He had answered his own post by stating that resetting suitable permissions on the folder via the File Manager fixed it.. I did the same and it worked.

That pretty much covers the entire affair. It may not be related to your issue, but I posted the info just in case it helps you further.

Rob
