I'm having mind-melt trying to figure out how to use the VS 2.0 IDE debugger against a DNN 4.3 module I'm writing.

I have a converted DNN3.2 module that is almost running as desired, but I'm at the point I feel the need to step through the code. I pick a likely line and <F9>, and a breakpoint gets set. I found where they moved the "Attach Process" command (under the Tools menu), and attach the aspnet_wp (is this still the correct process to attach to? Is there an updated name for ASP.Net 2.0??), and my breakpoint icon changes to one with a little yellow warning triangle. Hovering over the breakpoint, I see the following hint: "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document".

Most of the suggestions I've found in my web search say to check that I'm building in debug mode (I am), and not to have multiple files with the same name (I don't).

I know the section of code is executing because I do an alertscript inside the same subroutine, insode the loop enclosed by the breakpoint, and it does post. It's just not stopping.

Any helpful suggestions appreciated. TIA.

I found another couple suggestions on the internet. Turns out that when you attach to the process, you need to "select" what aspects of the process you're attaching to. I don't know if my settings got changed "somehow", but my original setting was for managed code, which made sense to me. Turns out that you need to select "Native" as well, and then the breakpoints are happy.

Anyway, problem solved. On to the next.
