A problem I came across while writing a module ....

I set a GridView's datasource = a List(Of SomeInfoClass) and turned AllowPaging = true

However the paging buttons in the grid did not work, it only ever showed the first page of records...

So I wrote a quick cheat func that converted List(Of X) to DataTable, and then paging worked fine ... is this a know issue? ie List(Of X) is not pageable??

Thanks

JK.

Hi jk_nzd,
I have a problem with gridview pagging too. When I click on the number to go to next page, DNN show the following error:
"A critical error has occurred.
The GridView 'grLinksList' fired event PageIndexChanging which wasn't handled". Where 'grLinksList' is ID of my gridview.
I have tried as you said, but with no result.
Do you and anybody have another idia?
Thank
Simon

I'm probably going about writing my module all wrong, but I followed Michael Washington's tutorial here:  http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_Module4/    and extended it with by following these tutorials: http://www.asp.net/learn/dataaccess/default.aspx?tabid=63 and my first module has worked out very well.  DataViews, DetailViews, FormViews are very functional.  The objectdatasource -> controller -> is easy to learn.

Hope this helps.

Thank you jbolduc. In fact, I have followed these intructions, but I did want to set datasource of the gridview in the page_load Event Handlers. That made trouble. Now I have put datasource object in my user control and thing is go right for now.
Thank.

your welcome,  I'm new to DNN  and using this method does not seem to be the norm, I'm curious what what the disadvantages are, and why it is not more popular.  It sure does cut down on the code needed to access the database.
