I've just upgraded from DNN 3.1 to DNN 3.3.3, mostly to get the new Membership/Custom Profile enhancements and the Events module. I have tried all the older version suggestions posted here to no avail. The site timezone setting is  right UTC 05. The event is entered right under a host login UTC 05, but the display shows UTC 08. The new Membership/Profile changes may remove the ability to set a user timezone...Besides, the presence of time and timezone should be an option. Most of the time, the extra clutter is not desired for the local events we post. If I can help track this bug, I will try anything.

Also, the modules did not adopt the existing skin settings. It shows in DNN Blue, while the site is in red firebrick and grays. This should be a separate thread....John Shepherd

Just updated my site to 4.3.3 and the time zones are out of whack again...

Site TZ set @ PST UTC-8

Admin TZ set @ PST UTC-8

Admin creates events...events displayed correctly for anonymous viewers (not logged-in)

Anonymous view (correct):

Start Date/Time: Thursday, August 03, 2006 6:00 PM
End Date/Time:  Thursday, August 03, 2006 9:00 PM
Time Zone: (UTC -08:00) Pacific

View when logged in as admin:

Start Date/Time: Saturday, August 05, 2006 1:59 AM
End Date/Time:  Saturday, August 05, 2006 4:59 AM
Time Zone: (UTC -08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada); Tijuana

After resetting every timezone I could find in DNN, my events show a uniform time with me as the sole user. I dare not put this into production until  I am sure of how events will display to users in other timezones. Documentation is needed for one thing. My biggest concern regards the functional purpose and design of the new module. To me, and I'm sure most DNN users, the default behavior should be that irregardless of any timezone settings, the date and time of an event should be As-It-Was-Entered, and not some translation based on user, host, or server settings.

If we're planning a conference, education session, meeting, etc., people need only to know the date and time in/of the physical location. It may be a useful option to be able to popup or schedule a timezone translated reminder for electronic meetings and such, but other than that, keep it simple.....

The new Events module does not adopt my skin settings, but I was able to work around this by experimenting with the module.css.

It's confusing still, but I know that together we will learn more on how to setup and use the new features. Perhaps some bug fixes or design modifications are in order here.
