I love the things you can do with SolPart, but why can't dnn use a nice, neat, list driven menu system that is SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY.

So far, only House of Nuke's menu is SE friendly, do a degree.

Look what other LAMP systems can do. NOT USING javascript rollovers.

I would also love to see an .htm url rewrite. Is anybody working on these?

The people (that's me, lol) want to know!

DNN already as a url rewriting, it has been in the release builds for a while.

It is known as "friendly urls" in DNN. You can find it in the host settings menu item

The more recent builds allow you to customise their structure but you need to know about regular expressions to do this.

regarding search engine friendly navigation There are a couple of commerical efforts on snowcovered http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=241&search=search%20engine%20menu

Jon Henning is working on some alternatives to solpart menu have a look

I remember a free module at schwingnuke.com but having checked the site it is dead or out of action at the time of this posting.

Check out lee skyes DNN Creative as he has some tutorials on producing css based skins and search engine info.

Hope this helps

I found this as a cached copy of schingnuke.com

A semantic n-level menu based on nested unordered lists. Using css you can create all kinds of horizontal and vertical menus with ease. Using pure css these menus not only look great but work very fast as well .
sample call ascx skin

settings explained
ChildOfLevel - Of which parentlevel do you want to show the children ( If you use multiple menu's on one page you can use this to set when to show the menu. If you only have one menu on a page you just fill in "0" )
ShowID - If you set this to true every item will have its own unique id ( Menu item will then be rendered like 'li id="tab_tabname"'. You can then style each item seperately using #tab_tabname{} )
UseActiveTab - This setting is used to be able to style the active tab and the topmost tab ( You can style these seperately using li.active{} and li.active a{} )
Direction - This setting is used to render a horizontal or vertical menu if you use the standard settings that come with the skins ( If you are styling your own menus eg, one level menus, than these settings are not neccesary if you control the css yourself )
MaxLevels - This is used to control the nr of levels returned in case you want to use more menu's on one page

Sounds perfect, but the site is offline. I wonder if there is any way to track this mod down,
