Are you talking about the post that you made at 8/1/2006 6:02:23 PM (Eastern Time)? On my browsers, when I look at it on this forum, it is NOT chopped.

I don't disagree with you that it is the provider because I don't know what it is so I assume that you are correct and that it is the provider.

Do you agree that this problem exists here on the dotnetnuke.com site with this forum? i.e. Even if it is the provider, it is causing the chopped problem here in this thread (with the notification emails) and is not something unique to the provider on my forum (which is the default provider).

Wildfiction please don't take my last post, or any in this thread, as anything other tham me trying to clear things up.

Yes, this is a problem here on this site too as when i viewed HTML view when editing my post I noticed it didn't have a full URL and only showed from the /Community/ forward. Again, this is a setting in the provider and I have notified Shaun that this needs switched over. This is probably the case on your site as well. I am not familiar w/ FTB, but I know the telerik editor has the option of turning this on/off in the provider code itself. Please see my previous post as an example of what I seen when in HTML edit view (<p><a href="/Community/...)

Remember, this only affects URL's when you are sending and retrieving from the database. The way this is rendered, it renders the entire link here and that is why you can click the links on the actual site. (ie. links are prefixed w/ the http://dotnetnuke.com/ for example) So when the value is retrieved from the forum for sending email notificatoin all it grabs is the /Community/... forward and it is not aware that it needs to attach the http://portalalaisHERE to the beginning.

This is something I can parse for and append in a future version so in some sense you could consider this a bug. The truth is that this is a change in the provider which caused unexpected behavoir and that is why I don't call it a bug. I definately will consider this for a future release but I hate adding more processing on the server side when it is only needed for a small amount of situations.

I'm grateful for all your help and comments Crispy - thanks. I know how difficult it is troubleshooting users with different browsers and configurations etc.

I share your attitude about keeping the processor code lean and fast and not cluttering it with extra checks during notificatin processing. If the user returns to the forum they get the right link. I know that some forum software just sends a "thread has changed" email and do not include the content but just a link back to the thread. If you decide to add the extra processing to check the URL then you might want to add the option that just a notification that there is a new posting on the forum and so the forum could be configured to skip that code.

Thanks again for you help.
