Ok now I'm confused. I realized I had put .DLL in the extension input, and went back to fix it. I deleted the .DLL mapping, then tried to input a new mapping, the same but with .AXD in the extension input.

It tells me theres already a mapping for .AXD, sure enough, it's there, with the only difference from what you've described being that the Methods are GET,HEAD,POST,DEBUG.

-scratching head-

There was originally a picture attached to the non-forum instructions that showed the .axd extension being mapped.

The first time I tried this, I accidentally selected the .NET 1.1 aspnet_isapi.dll instead of the .NET 2.0 aspnet_isapi.dll because we are also hosting 1.1 web sites on the same server and the dialog takes you to the last place you were.

I limited the verbs to GET, HEAD and POST because that's what was recommended for trace.axd in 1.1.  I'm assuming those are correct settings for webresource.axd.

If anyone has any further clarifications on the verbs required or a MS link that further explains the security requirements, please let me know via a forum post.

If .AXD is already mapped, make sure it is pointing to the ASP.Net 2.0 framework isapi DLL and not the 1.1 framework.

{systemDrive}\{systemdir}\Microsoft.NET\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll

On windows XP the path is most likely:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll

I'm afraid to say it already is.

What about the discrepancy between the suggested 'Methods'? What I have is slightly different.
