Ok ... I have just had a new DNN (4.0.2) website installed on my webserver (ASP.net 2), and MSSQL database all working as normal with the standard install ... except for one thing!!! I cannot uplaod skins / containers or modules ... HELP!

The steps I take

  1. Login as host
  2. go to Skins / Modules section 3
  3. Click on the Upload New Skin/Container / Module button link
  4. follow the direction on the next page to the letter
  5. Then ... drum roll .... Nothing happens!  I go back to the modules list and the new module doesn't appear in the list OR I go back to skins/container page with no new skin or containers available in the list.

I am at a loss of what is wrong or what is happening? Anyone have any suggestions?

  • in step 4, did you first add the files to upload to the list, before clicking upload?
  • did you use Skins from host menu or admin menu?
  • have you checked permissions for /portals/_default folder?

Yes I did add the files to the list and it appeared in the text box where i selected it and then clicked upload. I used the skins / modules from the "Host" menu I have had my web host provider check permissions for the entire site directory. He wiped the last site and installed a brand new database and we are starting from scratch all over again. Thought it was ok until I wanted to upload my skins / containers.

Could this be a browser issue? I have tried Firefox/Mac, and Internet Explorer/XP ...

Is there any difference in uploading a Container / Skin by FTP than through the host login section via a web browser?
