I have created a new tab/page to hold the Repository module. I have set VIEW privileges on that page to Registered users only. And then "Inherit from page" for the Repository module itself.

Whenever a registered user uploads a file, they receive the following message

You do not have access to view this tab within the portal.

They can no longer see that page in the menu bar until they log out and back in. Then it happens all over again.

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff you may have mentioned this in another post but just in case could you post what your DNN setup is (version, server version, sql version, etc) so that we can test this?

From the Host Settings page:

DNN Version: 4.0.2
Data Provider: SqlDataProvider
.NET Framework: 2.0.50727.42
ASP.NET Identity: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE

I do not know how to get the rest of the info you are asking for. But just give me a pointer and I will get it.

Thanks,
Jeff

I changed the view permissions on the page to All Users. That got rid of the permission error.

I set the Upload Respoitory Settings to "registered users", thereby achieving the same desired affect.

Now, the repository module does not show any uploaded files. Even though they are there and I have approved them!

I have tried using different templates (e.g. filelist, directory, default, etc) with the same results.

I can see the files are there using FTP.

If I throw a Dashboard on the page and properly set the settings, it shows me the two files there plus two more that used to be there. They are no longer there as I deleted them using FTP. Wow!

Now, the Repository module, after several refreshes, is showing just one of the two latest files to be uploaded and approved.

I don't want to knock some good work here, but is this module not ready for prime time or have I done something wrong? The functioning of it seems to be very erratic while the rest of the DNN site (default install) seems quite solid.

I don't want to use up all of your resources with these questions, but you probably want to know about these bugs as I find them.

DNN 4.0

I have placed this Repository module on a new page with View settings for all users on the page.

I have set the following on Security Roles:

Moderation: Admin
Download: Admin
Upload: Admin,Registered Users
Rating: Admin
Comment: Admin

I just want this to function as a dropbox for registered users.

Now the problems: (I won't reproduce those mentioned in a previous post)

  1. For registered users, the Upload button intermittently shows for registered users. If I refresh the window several times, I will eventually get the Upload button to show for registered users.
  2. The repoistory control variously shows appoved/uploaded files. Can't figure out what changes when it shows vs doesn't show. It variously shows some/all/none of the uploaded/approved files.

fyi
