Hello !!

I have a site in www.flashdata.org and as you can see it shows me two menus. The first is placed in the left upper corner and it is generated automaticaly by dnn, is the orange one. The second one is the one created from the links module in dnn. I would like to know if it is possible to delete the first one?

THANKYOU!!!

This will get the job done:

You have to be able to access the files on the server where the site is.

Judging from your source code it looks like you need to look on the server, in the folder /Portals/0/Skins/Skins/

In there you will find several files ending in .ascx

If you do not know which one of those is being used as the basis of your portal skin then go and look at your Admin, Skins page and see if the filename shows there as your selected skin.

Open that ascx file in your editor (Frontpage, Notepad or whatever) and look in the top few dozen lines for a section/tag beginning: <dnn:SOLPARTMENU... etc.

Cut and paste that section from <dnn through to /> into another notepad file for safekeeping. Or just delete it if you have a backup of this file.

It also looks like you should remove the two class statements that create that orange bit on the menu:

class="MenuBG" and class="MenuRight"

These should both be very near each other. Just cut the statements as they are out of the code.

Save the file back on the server to the right place and force-refresh your site (CTRL -F5).

I've made this all up from a glance at your source, so I could be wrong somewhere.

Good luck,

Rob

Hi!

Thankyou for your response but what I get doing that is only to hide the menu and it changes its orange colour to the grey background do it seems that it's not there but when I pass the mouse over it it continues showing it. What I really would like to do is to delete it because i have another one, but thinking about it I've realised that if I delete it I must have to delete the admin's and host's menu. It's possible to delete only the web menu??

THANKYOU!!

Hi there,

I'm afraid that what you need is some proper code work on the skin. It's not complicated, but is more than I can show you here.  I would suggest contacting the site that made the skin and see if they can make the change for you.

You can get around the problem of needing to have the Admin and Host menus visible by creating two skins - one without the menu for the public and one that does have the menu, which you set as the Admin Skin in your Site Settings. This means that when you log in, you will see the admin skin and it will have the menu and when you log out it will have the modified skin.

One warning: Be very careful that you don't lock yourself out of your site by removing the menu and logging out. It is risky to delete menus like this. Make sure you have a browser window open elsehwere and logged in on the skins page so that you can always reset the default skin if you have to. Also, use the skins Preview link instead of the Apply link when testing to see if your changes are correct.

Sorry I can't really help more than that here.

Good luck,u
Rob
