argh - trying to upload files in the gallery - isn't going so well.

I have an 11mb zip file i'm trying to upload.  It only has about 20 images in it - all resized to aprox 1280x960.

In order to get the 11mb zipfile to upload, I had to hack at the httpRuntime section in the web.config, but I figured I would only need to change the maxRequestLength and the executionTimeout...

anyway, I have both of those set sufficiently high to allow for the upload... requestLengthDiskThreshold I left alone, because that __SHOULD__ just be how much to buffer in memory before transparently spooling it to disk, right?

Well regardless, if I don't have THAT LAST ONE set sufficently high to allow the entire 11mb file to be buffered in RAM, the file ends up being zero bytes, and an exception shows up in the logs indicating that the zip file couldn't be understood (EOF in header, because its a zero byte file!)

Now - this could be an issue with DNN that it __HAS__ to have those two set the same... I don't know... one would think that DNN would be able to work w/i the framework to allow the transparent spooling to disk of posts/requests over a certain size... oh well...

any ideas?

Try to upload using the File Manager into the folder of that Gallery module. Then you will have to synch the Gallery with its module contents using maintainance. ONCE AGAIN, the Gallery module is just a BETA, so don't use it for production.

(First - yes, I know its just beta... :) it is being used in production but we're talking about like 40-60 users max)

Okay - let me be a little more specific and make sure I'm putting the zip in the right folder...

I have gal module 123 -

/portals/0/Gallery/123/

Now underneath that I have several albums - to make the whole structure:

/portals/0/Gallery/123/Album1/Subalbumn1/

WHERE do I put the zip file?

I TRIED to upload it manually - didn't use the filemanager - I have SMB access to this server and so I dragged/dropped in windows explorer.  I tried resync'ing it in the filemanager (which brings up another point - the gallery doesn't actually SYNC itself with the file manager at all... but thats for another time)... then resyncing that album, but it didn't find/process the zip file.

Thanks,

Chavous

Your zip should go into the 123 directory, when uploading check the box to decompress the zip. When the file is unzipped, its contents will be in the same folder structure as the original one. Then you will need to synch cause it synchs to the file system on its own. In the next version it'll use File Manager.

FYI: Resynching the File Manager had issues in a couple of DNN4 versions.

Gallery does not process the zip at all, that's why I suggested using File Manager.
