I had a working installation of DNN 4.3.3. I then installed 2 HTTP modules: Open-KeepAlive and Open-ViewState from XepientSolutions. Straight away I started getting the error "An error has occurred writing to the exception log" in the browser. This is on a completely blank page - no DNN content at all. Interestingly I get the error when navigating to localhost/default.aspx, but when going to http://localhost I get "HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden"

After removing the 2 HTTP modules (removing DLLs and backing out web.config changes) I am STILL getting same error. I have also tried all the following with no change:

Rebooting server.
Using server name instead of localhost as address
Copying site and database to another server

Something must have got messed up within the DNN folder - if I point a clean install of DNN 4.3.3 at the same database it works.

This is resolved. It was due to a bug in the Open-KeepAlive module that only arises if the Open-KeepAlive log file is moved out of the subfolder where it  lives by default into the website root.
