"Name" is a fine name for a column and I can add multiple columns, change their order, it doesn't matter: Once I have set the sorting for the "Name" column, everything works like expected.

So your issue must have a different cause. I propose that you export your trouble causing udt and send this xml file to xmlmodule@gmail.com.

I sent the e-mail.  On a whim, I tried adding a new instance of the UDT Module on the same page and importing the content that I just exported for your e-mail.  Once I chose to sort it again, this time it worked like we expected it to (in the new instance of the module).  However, the original module is still there and is still having the same problems.  (I sent you the URL to the page.  The new instance of the module is not visible to the public.)

I am sure that it would be nice to find out what is happening with the original module.  If I had the problem, there are probably others out there having the same problem.

Thank you so much for your assistance.  It is really comforting to see this level of support in one of the projects.  :)

I have the exact same issue as hismightiness.  Previously using UDT 3.3.3.  Upgraded to UDT 3.3.6 specifically for the sort order fix.  Then needed to upgrade to DNN 4.3.5 to use the new UDT.  After all that, the sort order is still not working right.  I will try the export then import into new module.

Please take care, if you update UDT prior to proper DNN version: There is a special mechinism used, that prevent database scripts to run, if the core version is not appropriate, so you can install previous UDT version over existing one without loosing functionality. Unfortunately the module version is updated anyway, and the scripts don't run on subsequent update of UDT. I recognized today, that DotNetNuke 3.3.5/4.3.5 now prevents installation of previous module versions, so I recommend the following procedure, if you previously installed an unsupported version:

  • Login as Host
  • Goto "SQL" in Host menu
  • enter the following text in the box and hit run

        Update {objectqualifier}ModuleDefinitions SET Version = '03.03.00' WHERE ModuleName ='DNN_UserDefinedTable'

  • Install previously used version of UDT
  • Install latest version of UDT
  • try the module
