Is there an actual tutorial that makes sense when read?  What is provided on this site goes too much into concepts and proposals and terminology that is completely unnecessary.

Joomla is a much easier platform to pickup and go with their skinning/template creation, but I find myself having to learn DNN to work with some customers.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Was there something specific you want to know more about?

If the documents on the DNN site you read are not doing it for you, there are some sites that have videos and other tutorials (just Google DotNetNuke + Video/Tutorial etc), or you can look at the books that have been written about DotNetNuke (many are available on Amazon).

I hope this is of some assistance.

I've gone ahead and ordered the newest DNN book for 4.0 which I am waiting for, but in the mean time I will do as you have suggested, thanks.  :)

Hi, Yes it's a challenge learning all the skinning and design techniques, however, I've been contracted by Wrox to write a Beginning DotNetNuke Skinning and Design book and it's currently underway.   I expect you will see it available for pre order on Amazon within the next month.

It is specifically for skinning and designing DotNetNuke sites and I have two other talented contributors for two - three chapters, as well as our new skinning resource we've been working on getting released in the near future.  I have had to find some extra resources to help me move things ahead since the power of one is not sustainable.

I hope this will be well received as there are so many things that can be done with DNN from a designer perspective, but we need to have more succinct information based on experience with some good best practices put in place.

A newsletter will be sent from my own sites about it along with some other announcements.

What is the status of this book?  I am very frustrated by the unnecessary complexity, as compared to Joomla, for designing skins for DotNetNuke.

I also hope that this book literally takes you step by step in creating even a simple "hello world" page with the minimum required tags/tokens, etc.

I'm not new to creating web pages with FrontPage, but I am new to this architecture and its stiff guidelines.
