I loaded a 4.3.3 source on a new server and went through a trainging session for some new teachers.  We had version conflict issues but was able to get through the training.  We had issues certain modules.  I now want to upgrade to 4.3.4. but I dont want to lose the stuff they did during the traing.  I've read different things but I'm confused.  What do I need to do to install 4.3.4 over 4.3.3 and I assume that I need to download the source version since that is what I installed originally.  I read one place to rename the web.config and another place said not to rename it so I'm just confused at this point.  Sorry.

  Thanks in advance...

The first thing to do with any upgrade is to first back everything up. All the files and your database. That way if things go bad then you can get back to where you are now.

This is a straight forward upgrade. After you have your backup then lay the new files over your existing structure. Open up the release.config and then put your DB connection information and machine key info from your backup copy of your web.config into the file. Once you have made the changes then rename release.config to web.config and hit the site. Everything should upgrade and you will be fine, nothing should be lost  as part of this process.

Your backup is the key as it can get you back from anything.

Hi Bruce,

How do I upgrade from version 4.3.3 to 4.3.4 when i installed 4.3.3 using the starter kit vsi file?  Do I just rerun the starter kit?  thanks.

Thanks Bruce...

I'll try this tomorrow or Friday and get back to you...  Thanks for the info and I apologize for the terrible spelling.  It had been a very long day and I didn't proof it as you can plainly see...

I can't wait for all the stuff to work.  The participants really wanted to use those smileys. .  On the 4.3.3 version, I'm getting the error saying that the module is looking for a newer version.  It's giving me that on the image gallery and the hyperlinks as well.  We were able to copy/paste pictures into the text box during the training or it would have been a bust.

Thanks again....
