I'm trying to install DNN following the  instructions in the book Pro DNN 4.  I followed these closely even noting a couple of errors in the instructions as they were presented.  Finally getting to the installation phase I get the message: 

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

The install program is in D:\websites\dotnetnuke\install do I need an IIS link to this or do I browse to this, or is it something completely different.

Assistance please.
