Hi,

I'm a newbie trying to do a clean install of DNN. Of course, I'm failing. I get the Keyword not supported: 'user instance' error

My config is:
Windows 2003sp1/IIS6
SQL Server express 2005
database name: DNN
database location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\DNN.mdf

These are the settings in my web.config
  <connectionStrings>
 <add
  name="SiteSqlServer"
  connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;Database=DNN;User
  Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\DNN.mdf;"
  providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <add
  key="SiteSqlServer"
  value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Database=DNN;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\DNN.mdf;"/>

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Marc

I think I remember there was a setting where you could turn off or not install with user instances.

Another option is to change your connectiong string:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;Database=DotNetNuke;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Of course, switch the Database name to your database, e.g. DNN, if that's what it's logically called.

In the second connection string, in the web.config, remove the providerName attribute.
