Hi,

What would be the impact of amending the SiteSQLServer string in the ConnectionStrings section to point to a different database than the SiteSQLServer string in AppSettings?

The db would still be exactly the same as the stock aspnetdb created by aspnet_regsql, it would just live in a different database to the rest of the DNN tables.

If there are many areas that depend upon this string being the same as the other SiteSQLServer string, then possibly the desired effect would be achieved by modifying just the connectionStringName element of the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider provider to point to a new connection string that would be added to the connectionStrings section. I am thinking this might reduce the impact but may cause other issues with data being in two different places and subsequent joins failures.

Cheers

Dan
