Hi, I have a strange situation.

I tried to install dotnetnuke atleast 6 times and I was successfully able to install it. But what inrigued me the most was only one out of 6 attempts I was able to get all the desktop modules, the rest of the times it comes up with only 5 desktop modules(Account, Banner,Search input,Search result and User account).

I was unable to find any configuration to control as to what comes up and what doesn't, during or after installation.

Can someone help me understand as to how do we (if at all we can) control the number of desktop modules that are installed by default? Is there anything that I am doing wrong? Is it supposed to come up with all the modules or only few?If only few why did it install all of them once?

If I have to add the missing modules what are the steps to follow?

I AM USING WINDOWS XP and DNN 4.3.2 version.

Thanks in advance

First of all you should upgrade using the newest DNN version 4.3.4. They say there is a fix for a lot of the security bugs from previous versions.

The modules that are installed with dotnetnuke are located in the <dotnetnuke>/install/modules directory of the installation zip file. I've noted that for some unknown reason some installations do not install a full set of modules. Mostly you can control the modules that do get installed by adding or deleting them from this directory. To force an install of modules from this directory that have not been installed previously you should enter this url in your browser:

http://www.mydomain.com/install/install.aspx?mode=InstallResources

Alternatively you can add or delete the modules one by one from your module definitions page under your host page just by browsing to the zip file and uploading it manually.

Thanks Mike that worked. I am keeping this note as 'one of the possible steps for a DNN installation list' I am compiling.
