Hello folks!

I signed up with GoDaddy a couple of weeks ago. I'd never worked with DNN untill then. I loaded as a free value app. Version 4.0.2 I think.

Anyway, I like it. I want to build a nice website for my band. And although I've been a programmer for lot of years and even worked a good bit with ASP.net I didn't want to spend a lot of time on this site. I have a job thank you.

I'm trying to get some .wma files uploaded there and I get an error every time. I can't really tell you what the error is because they have custom errors turned on. It just displays Runtime Error.

I called support but the won't help because the say it's a free app and it's hosted by someone else. Support person didn't know who.

My question is this. Can anyone here tell me what the file upload limits are on the GoDaddy DNN sites. The .wma files I have are demo tracks of the band and run between 3 and 5 meg.

thanks

Hello Reynold, im hosting my site under godaddy too

And im not using their value application addon

Im using manual hosting with premium plan

I Think they r not supporting .wma as file extention. You may switch to manual hosting or ask to support staff to add the .wma extension. But i dont think they ll do this without paying extra cost.

PS: You can check DotNetNuke forums for "Manual Installation On Godaddy"

Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply greenflash.

I had the "unathorized file type" problem early on. That was solved by logging in to the host account. There you can add file types to the authorized file type list.

No... I believe my upload problem is a a time out issue. My cable service has the upload speed throttled back to something ridiculous.

Anyway... I solved this problem easily enough, just had to think about it a minute.  My whole point in trying to get the files to my DNN site was hopefully to create a juke box for my bands demo tracks. I was going to use the new media module untill I tested it and realized that it didn't work like that. It allows you to configure only one media file per module. There may be a way around this, I'm not sure. The way I solved my problem was to simply upload all my .wma files up to my standard GoDaddy. Then I inserted a link module and just created links back to the tracks. Not the cool juke box I was hoping for but it works well. Maybe I'll see if i can write a juke box module when i get a little deaper into DNN.

Check out my site when you get a chance. http:/www.thexcentrix.com. I'm new at this so be kind.

hello again

i didnt think they allow u to use host account on shared hosting :)

but nice to see that u found ur own and easy solution

im using Repository module for listing 3d animations

u can choose a template for ur needs and list ur tracks with this module

This module allows both downloading and playing the tracks/videos online

The only thing is chosing correct template :)

Good Luck
